Purchasing eco-friendly products is not only good for the environment, but is also an easy way to make your voice heard. As consumers we can help direct manufacturing demand by voting with our wallets.
Stream2Sea
- Certain ingredients commonly used in sunscreen, cosmetics, and soaps are highly toxic to corals and marine life. These include benzophenone-2, oxybenzone, octinoxate and parabens, as well as, coatings used on zinc oxide to reduce whitening. When these chemicals are introduced to our waters, corals can become sick and expel their life-giving algae. Without these algae, the coral can “bleach” (turn white) and may even die. This, in turn, affects thousands of species of fish, which eventually affects us. Stream2Sea products are designed to prevent harm to the marine ecosystem.
- In addition, their product packaging is made from a variety of the following: sugarcane resins, recycled milk jugs, and biodegradable and recyclable PLA film.
Fourth Element
- Approximately 1.4 billion pounds of rubbish per year enters our seas. Dumped into our oceans daily, this threatens marine life, pollutes beaches, and affects local tourism industries. Fourth Element OceanPositive products use recycled ghost nets and other discarded waste, turned into ECONYL® yarn to use in swimwear, rashguards, and other products.
- In addition, all new products will be housed in plastic-free packaging. Fourth Element has moved away from plastic postage bags, providing cardboard or paper packaging which can be reused and/or recycled.
